Let’s face it… we all are missing summer right about now. You know what reminds ME of summer? Beer and Softball! Tomorrow just so happens to be the Leinenkugel’s Snow Softball Classic! So why don’t you do something fun this weekend that will remind you of summer!
The event is free and open to the public tomorrow, February 28th, at the Canton Sports Center starting at 9 am. The Mark and Andy Show will be broadcasting live. The Riff will also have tons of games to play and prizes to give away, such as Tiger Tickets, Concert Tickets, and MUCH more!
I’ll also be behind the bar serving up some Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy! All the tips will be donated to the CATCH foundation. CATCH raises funds through a series of special events for items and services that improve the quality of life for sick, injured and needy pediatric patients who receive care from Children's Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital.
You can also come out to watch the Celebrity Softball Game featuring you Riff Crew along with local TV and Sports celebrities!
See you tomorrow!!
Next year is a huge landmark in the NFL. It’s the 50th Superbowl!
It is coincidentally happening in the San Francisco Bay Area… home to many, including Metallica.
Recently, Metallica fans started a petition to try to get the band to play the halftime show. The Superbowl hasn’t had a rock headliner perform since The Who back in 2010…. So in my opinion... I think it’s about time a rock band headlined, especially one like Metallica.
Unfortunately the NFL asks musicians to “pay to play” the famous spot, so there’s no word on whether or not Metallica would make that deal with the NFL (I mean why would they? It’s not like they need the fame from playing that slot… they’re Metallica..)
No matter what happens, I’m sure Superbowl 50 is going to have an epic halftime show. So we’ll have to wait and see next year!
If you really want Metallica to play, you can sign the petition right here! (they need 5,000 signatures)

5 months ago Royal Blood came to the Motor City for the first time and played at The Shelter. I instantly fell in love with the band after hearing their first single "Out of the Black," so I was very excited to see them live for the first time. To this day, that was one of my favorite shows. They just blew the crowd away with their wall of noise. Their sound, stage presence, and performance was just amazing!
They came back last night and played a show at St. Andrew's Hall, again blowing the crowd away with an impressive show. Definitely one of the best new bands out there.
If you're not sold on the band yet, let some of the world's biggest rock legends tell you how good they are! Royal Blood has received so many compliments from huge artists like Jimmy Page and Dave Grohl. In fact, the band is set to tour with Foo Fighters this summer! That is huge news for a band that just released their first studio album back in August!
Anyways, the future looks bright for Royal Blood! I'm excited to continue watching this band's career grow. And also very excited to see them open up for the Foo's!
