Chris Cornell paid tribute to fellow-grunge rock icons Pearl Jam on Monday’s installment of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, playing “Footsteps” from the band’s 2003 compilation album, Lost Dogs.
The Soundgarden singer’s performance, which also featured the Avett Brothers, was the first in what will be an entire week dedicated to Pearl Jam on the late-night show in celebration of the band’s latest LP, Lightning Bolt.
Meanwhile, Chris Cornell is playing a series of solo tour dates that feature acoustic arrangements of his most notable hits, including songs from Soundgarden’s first new album in 16 years, King Animal. The concerts extend all the way through November, when Cornell is set to play a two-date stint at the Borgata Hotel & Casino’s Music Box venue in Atlantic City, NJ on the 29th and 30th.
Additionally, it was recently announced that a new song from Cornell entitled “Misery Chain” will be released on the soundtrack for the upcoming film 12 Years a Slave. The album is due out on November 5 digitally and November 19 on CD. Hear a live performance of the song here.
