Metallica’s James Hetfield is set to be awarded by the organization Little Kid’s Rock at their 2013 Rockin’ the Bay Benefit next month.
The singer will be honored with the “Livin’ the Dream Award;” an accolade dedicated to the late Josef Desimone, who was a huge supporter of Little Kids Rock. Desimone, who was also head chef at Facebook, sadly passed away this past summer in a motorcycle accident.
Little Kids Rock is a program with the mission of revitalizing music education in public schools across the United States. The organization works to provide musical instruments and train educators in a special curriculum so that they can become equipped to teach students how to compose, improvise and perform popular music, according to their official website.
The 2013 Rockin’ the Bay Benefit is set to take place on Saturday, November 9 in Menlo Park, CA.
Congrats to James Hetfield on this honor!
