Looks like Billie Joe Armstrong has caught the acting bug!
After making a cameo in the 2012 Judd Apatow comedy This is 40, Armstrong has been cast in the upcoming indie flick Like Sunday, Like Rain, where he’ll star opposite Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) as her boyfriend.
Directed by Frank Whaley, the film centers around Meester’s character; a young a musician struggling to make it in the industry when she becomes the legal guardian of a 12-year-old music prodigy, according to Deadline.
But that’s not the only film on the horizon to feature the Green Day frontman!
The punk-rock trio also recently announced that they will be releasing their documentary Cuatro!, which chronicles the making of their recent album trilogy Uno!, Dos!, Tre!, on iTunes, Amazon, Quello and on DVD on September 24. Similarly, the documentary Broadway Idiot about the band’s decision to make their 2004 hit album American Idiot into a Broadway show will hit theaters on October 11.
