Longtime Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora, has just released a brand new solo single titled “Engine 19”.
According to the rocker’s official website, Sambora teamed up with Elton John collaborator, Bernie Taupin, to co-write the song as a tribute to first responders around the United States.
Sambora and Taupin released the track last Wednesday, which marked the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
“With deepest compassion, Bernie Taupin and I wrote this song dedicated to victims, families, and heroes of 9/11,” Sambora tweeted upon the track's release.
The song tells the story of a family of firefighters who have struggled for generations with the heartbreaking reality that comes with the job.
The release of “Engine 19” comes on the heels of a rough patch within Bon Jovi, as Sambora left the band’s Because We Can tour back in April citing a ‘personal issue’ as his reason.
