The ever-active Steven Tyler made an appearance during country star and fellow American Idol judge Keith Urban’s concert at a Nashville club over the weekend.
The rocker surprised the crowd when he joined Urban on stage to perform an impromptu version of the ZZ Top classic “La Grange” which was later combined with Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way.”
The intimate show, which took place at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, was captured on video and can be seen below. After a couple of songs, Urban begins teasing the audience (which starts at about 7:04 in the video), stating, “I’m gonna attempt an experiment right now. I’m gonna predict that if we play this riff long enough, we might find a singer in the crowd who knows how to sing this song. If you happen to be a bit of a bad ass blues legend singer, this might be your cue.”Urban and his band then lightly play the intro to “La Grange” as Tyler comes into view, hugging Urban and his band members and taking the mic, scatting and improvising his vocals.
Keith Urban is currently promoting his new album Fuse and will return to American Idol next season as a judge, while Steven Tyler and Aerosmith will launch a series of South American tour dates on September 28 in Caracas, Venezuela.
