Although they had some success before, Bon Jovi truly burst onto the world stage with their 1986 album, Slippery When Wet – released 27 years ago today.
The album fused together pop, rock, and hair metal that thrilled teenage headbobbers, and later broadened its appeal to make Bon Jovi one of the most successful groups of the 80s.
Not only did the album help Bon Jovi sell out countless venues, but it also shot them to the top of the charts with hits like “You Give Love a Bad Name", “Wanted Dead or Alive”, and the iconic “Livin’ on a Prayer”.
With the release of Slippery When Wet, these rockers from New Jersey proved that they had staying power.
And stay they did!
