Former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo released his first ever solo album entitled Walk Through Exits Only on July 16, and the rocker recently spoke to Meltdown from Detroit rock station WRIF 101.1 FM to give fans the 411 on the record:
"This is something that's been brewing in my mind for quite a while and a record that I just felt like...I really felt like doing it," Anselmo tells WRIF. "I base things on mood and I was in the mood so, ya know, there she blows!"
The album, which was recorded over the course of the last couple of years at Anselmo’s studio in New Orleans with his backing band The Illegals, is made up of eight tracks, the first single of which is “Bedridden.”
Regarding the LP’s music, the rocker, who also fronts the band Down, told Meltdown:
“I would say that it is a difficult listen and there's no way that you can really latch on to it...I think it’s the type of record that will grow on you in time because it is absolutely a different listen.”
Walk Through Exits Only, which debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard charts, is available now via Housecore Records.
