Vivian Campbell is keeping his fans in the loop when it comes to his cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The Def Leppard guitarist is doubling down on the announcement he made earlier this week about his Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis. In a lengthy new Facebook post, Campbell reiterates that he won’t let any of that slow him down, thanking fans and saying that he wishes the band was performing even more shows this weekend.
"Huge thanks to all of you for your love and support; I'm overwhelmed by the well-wishes," he wrote. "Can't wait to see some of you at the shows this summer. I just wish we were playing more!"
In his original post, Campbell said the band’s summer tour will go ahead as planned, with Def Leppard shows over the next two months before Last in Line, which reunited the original Dio members, debuts in August. He went on to add that his Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has more than an 80% cure rate and joked about his new look, adding that it will be on display on the band’s summer tour.
“The reason I’m sharing this with you is because, despite cancer and chemo, me and my new aerodynamic hairstyle (read: no hair) are going on tour this summer with the band and I don’t want anyone to be so shocked by my new look that they ask for a refund,” he joked in his post. “Simple economics, really.”
It’s great to see Campbell in such great spirits, and hopefully Def Leppard’s cheering fans at their shows will keep him positive throughout his treatment.
