A live concert allows you to see your favorite musicians pour their hearts out onto the stage. But what distinguishes one rock concert from the next? Perhaps it is the towering flames, roller coaster-style drum kits, crazy laser attacks, flying harnessed frontmen, and huge explosions. All we're saying is, if you’re going to be partially deaf on the way home in the hours following a rock concert, it might as well be worth it!
Here’s our list of the Top 5 Crazy Stage Shows that Rock!
1. U2 (360 Degrees Tour)
Give U2 an entire arena to itself and it will use the entire thing, literally! Most recently, the band’s 360 Degrees Tour featured a truly all-encompassing set design that allowed fans to see the stage no matter where they were seated. The band has all sorts of stage props and designs, not to mention a ton of special effects for everyone to lose themselves in, along with the awesome music, of course. And don’t expect them to always stay on the stage either…
2. Motley Crue
Motley Crue doesn’t really care to hide its “Wild Side.” The random chopper motorcycles, trapezing women, and blasting pyrotechnics are standard fare for the unapologetic ensemble of bad boys; but Tommy Lee playing the drums upside down? That takes ‘bad’ to a new level!
3. Metallica
Metallica's stage show might as well be another member of the band. The pyrotechnics, lights and digital effects seem all too fitting when the infamous metal group is up there rocking, and despite a few mishaps through the years, these guys have it down to an artform!
NSFW: Swearing
4. Marilyn Manson
We’ll give him this: Marilyn Manson can sure make heads turn. The shock rocker lives to entertain, and he certainly does. He likes to use the trifecta of stage elements (lights, pyrotechnics, digital display), but what is usually the most fascinating is Manson himself!
5. KISS
The digital age has elevated special effects to new heights, but amidst all the pizzaz, four flashing letters above the stage, awesome face paint and getups, and some high-octane metal are just about all one band needs to rock a show. KISS has been jammin’ for decades, proving time and time again that they ARE the show.
Honorable Mentions: Rush, Muse, Gwar, Rob Zombie and Slipknot.
