Foo Fighters Playing Crowdfunded Show September 14th

NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 13: Musician Dave Grohl of the Sound City Players performs at Hammerstein Ballroom on February 13, 2013 in New York City.
It’s official:  The Foo Fighters will be playing the National Theater in Richmond Va. on September 14th after fans organized an online campaign to bring the band back to their town for the first time since 1998.

The band confirmed the date of the show on Twitter in the same casual fashion that they agreed to perform the fan-scheduled event, which only adds to the band’s reputation of being some of the coolest guys in rock.  (Seriously, how many bands would actually agree to play a show like this?!)

The National is definitely a smaller venue than what the Foos are used to nowadays.  According to the venue’s website, the theater holds “1500 average-sized people.”  Fans who bought tickets to the show at the beginning of the online campaign are in for a very intimate, cozy show that will undoubtedly be a night Richmond won’t forget anytime soon.
