The Dead Daisies have spent the month of August on the road opening up for KISS and Def Leppard and in support of their new EP, Face I Love. The band, comprised Jon Stevens (INXS), David Lowy (Mink), Richard Fortus (Guns N’Roses), Dizzy Reed (GN’R), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy) and Brian Tichy (Whitesnake), had previously opened up for Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd, another big double bill. For Reed, touring with KISS definitely brought back some childhood memories, which he touched on when he spoke with WDHA’s Terrie Carr:
“I think the second record I bought when I was in the seventh grade was KISS Alive. My dad was kinda mad, because it was a double record, so it was $5.99 instead of $3.99! And that kinda changed my life in a lot of ways, but by ninth grade I was kinda over it. You know, I discovered girls and stuff. Well, actually we wrote them, because we went to see them play, me and the guys in my band and they destroyed so many guitars we wrote them a letter as members of the KISS Army asking them if they could spare a couple guitars, cause they were breaking so many. We never heard back, so that might’ve had something to do with it, but I understand all of the logistics of it now.” We hope Reed was able to snag some piece of KISS gear now to make up for being snubbed in his youth. The next show for The Dead Daisies is tomorrow (August 26th) in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. For all the latest on the band, head over to TheDeadDaisies.com.
