KISS/Def Leppard Tour Starts Tonight

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA - MARCH 17: (L-R) Musicians Eric Singer, Paul Stanley, Rick Allen, Joe Elliott, Phil Collen, Rick Savage, Gene Simmons, Vivian Campbell and Tommy Thayer of KISS and Def Leppard announce the '2014 Heroes Tour' at House of Blues on March 17, 2014 in West Hollywood, California.
and Def Leppard kick off their summer tour tonight (June 23) near Salt Lake City, Utah, with the headliner promising that its "You wanted the best, you got the best" introduction will be even more appropriate this time out.

Kiss frontman Paul Stanley tells us that,

"I believe that this is the greatest and really the best stage. We call it the Spider Stage, 'cause the lights are actually in the shape of a spider and the legs are actually dangling down on the stage and move...I wanted a stage...where the lights and the stage were one instead of having lights hang from the ceiling. So the lighting and the stage is by far the best things we've done...The band is firing on all cylinders. Between that and the fact we're psyched up for this and we're celebrating our 40th year, we are out there to do a victory lap although the race isn't over yet. There'll be more races. This'll be the celebration of everything we've done to date."

As for touring with Def Leppard, Stanley notes that,

"We've always tried to have great bands on tour with us, and now more than ever, although we're celebrating our 40th anniversary and this is our 40th anniversary tour, we want to make sure that people get their money's worth and we always make sure we more than do that....And to bring Def Leppard along means that everybody gets to hear a huge catalog of songs that were all hits and all mean something. Def Leppard's just a great band, and it's a great way to spend the evening during the summer."

Kiss and Def Leppard will play 42 shows together, finishing August 31 in Woodlands, Texas.

Kiss has recently released a new compilation, "40," a well as vinyl reissues of its catalog. Stanley published his New York Times bestelling autobiography, “Face The Music”, in April, while bassist Gene Simmons will release "ME, Inc. -- Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business" on October 21.
