"Lazaretto" Earns No. 1 Billboard 200 Debut

MANCHESTER, TN - JUNE 14: Singer Jack White performs during the 2014 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 14, 2014 in Manchester, Tennessee.
Jack White
is 2-0!

Per Billboard.com, his new album Lazaretto earned the number one slot on the Billboard 200 with 138,000 copies sold in the first week of release, giving him back-to-back chart-topping debuts.  (White’s first solo album Blunderbuss also debuted at number one back in 2012.)

In addition to topping the Billboard album charts, White also holds the number one spot on the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart selling 40,000 LPs in the opening week, which gives White the record for largest weekly vinyl sales since the beginning of the SoundScan era in 1991.

This debut isn’t very surprising, considering the promotional campaign White was on, appearing on “The Tonight Show,” “Conan” and conducting various interviews.  Perhaps, White should make more public appearances.  I know he values his privacy, but it was nice seeing him out and about.
