Marilyn Manson’s “Cupid Carries a Gun” Used as Theme for WGN America’s “Salem”

HOLLYWOOD, CA - MARCH 14: Singer Marilyn Manson attends the 'Spring Breakers' premiere at ArcLight Cinemas on March 14, 2013 in Hollywood, California.
Salem
, WGN America’s first foray into original programming, debuted to strong numbers last week, but the show has decided to change things up a bit regarding its opening credits.

Enter Marilyn Manson.

“Cupid Carries a Gun”, a track off of Manson’s new album will act as the show’s new theme song starting with the second episode.  According to EntertainmentWeekly.com, Salem composer Tyler Bates, who also worked on Manson’s new album, asked if the song could be used as the dark drama’s theme, and Manson thought it would be a good fit.

Take a look at the opening credits below.  The dark imagery and Manson deep voice make for an incredibly spooky intro to the show.
