"The
Doc of Rock" Doug Podell didn't go to medical school,
but he's earned his doctorate in rock and roll! Doug is
a long time veteran of Detroit radio, a native of
Detroit's east side, and a walking dictionary of rock
music.

Doug is a huge fan of the local music scene --
just ask the countless bands whose careers have boosted
by Doug's hard work.
In addition to his midday program, Doug is the program director of WRIF.
He is constantly re-evaluating the
RIFF
's sound image, keeping the station on the cutting edge of the music revolution.
The Doc spends his free time checking out the thriving local music scene
and climbing on stages to jam with bands.
In the several minutes every week he's not rockin', Doug
spends time with his wife and daughter, and collects old
records, sports cards, and memorabilia.
