This school year, we’re honoring high school students who have made extraordinary achievements.

We want to hear about young adults who have
excelled either on the field, in the classrooms,
or in their community. Know of one?

May's honors go to 11th grader Kailey Savona of Mercy High School. Despite moving with our family from Kentucky to Michigan when school ended last June, Kailey has maintained a 3.85 GPA while spending a tremendous amount of time all year being the Team Manager for Mercy Varsity Basketball. The team won the Catholic League Championship and they made it to the State Final 4. Her JV Year she won the Scholar/Athlete Award at Assumption HS in Louisville Kentucky. Kailey is strong in her faith and spends a lot of hours doing volunteer work. Kailey is also part of the National Honor Society.

April's honors go to 12th grader Lauren Hingst of Waterford. Lauren a softball player and High Honors member helps to organize and run the American Red Cross Blood Drive every two months at Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes H.S.. From making appointments to registering donors to working the recovery table, Lauren does it all. Congratulations Lauren on all of your achievements! 

March's honors go to 9th grader Tommy Hill of Brighton High School. Tommy is the Freshman Class President of his school, holds a 4.0GPA, is an eagle scout and has had perfect school attendance since Kindergarten. Congratulations Tommy on all of your achievements! 

February's honors go to John Aaron Addis of East Detroit High School. John enjoys golf, tennis and marching band. John has maintained straight A's all through school, and plays on the golf team, the tennis team, and has been in the marching band for the past 3 yrs.  This year he was selected to be the drum major for his school's marching band. John is also in the national honors society and the early college program at Macomb County Community College through east detroit high school. John Aryton, who nominated John stated, "John is one of the most polite teenagers i have EVER met, and just an all around great kid."

December’s honors go to Andrew Blackwood of Wayne. Randy Blackwood tells us, “Andrew is an outstanding kid and student who volunteers at church, school, and the community. He is active in sports as well as the choir.” Andrew keeps high grades while playing both soccer and basketball at Huron Valley Lutheran High School. Keep up the great work, Andrew!

Our November Brush With Greatness honoree is Ryan Conroy of Garden City High School. Nominated by family friend, Lisa Bassett, Lisa tells us that Ryan’s merits go well beyond his performance on the football field, the wrestling mat, and the classroom. Lisa said Ryan “… volunteers in the community and helps without being asked. He is respectful, courteous, and goes out of his way  regardless of who he is with to greet you. I have a son who is autistic and he treats him with kindness and spends time with him. Ryan goes out of his way to spend time with my son. He's a remarkable young man who has a very bright future. We need more Ryan Conroy's in the world as role models. I'm very proud to know this fine young man."


In October, we honored Joshua Haney of Allen Park. Joshua plays hockey, tutors math, and is helpful to his family and neighbors. All while maintaining a high grade point average. Keep up the great work Joshua!

In September, we honored Isabella Bandura of Monroe High School. Isabella was able to preserver personal obstacles and maintain a 4.0 average while being an active member of the cheer team. Way to go Isabella!

In August, we honored Pricilla Lockhart of Communication Media Arts High School. Pricilla plays basketball, maintains a 4.0 grade point average, and is a member of the Principal’s Club. Way to go Pricilla!
